Announcement: Sam Chau Appointed Deputy Executive Director of PBEC

The Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC) is pleased to welcome Sam Chau as our new Deputy Executive Director. Sam brings a strong commitment to fostering cross-border collaboration and developing solutions for shared challenges, including geopolitical shifts, technological change, and intergenerational equity.

In his role, Sam will support PBEC’s mission through Organizational Management, Stakeholder Engagement, and Strategic Research. His experience in creating operational frameworks that combine policy insight, technological awareness, and ethical considerations aligns well with PBEC’s focus on advancing prosperity and resilience through public-private dialogue.

Sam has worked with organizations addressing cross-regional challenges, emphasizing inclusive strategy and adaptive strategy. He has partnered on youth-focused digital initiatives and educational projects, collaborating with communities to turn obstacles into opportunities. At PBEC, he looks forward to helping connect vision with practical action to advance shared goals.

Academically, Sam’s background spans Legal Studies, Policy Analysis, Mass Communication, and Humanities, with additional studies in Sinology and classical literature. He is preparing for doctoral research on geopolitics, sustainable development, and peacebuilding, aiming to contribute to fairer global systems through inclusive approaches.

Driven by a commitment to cross-sector cooperation, sustainability, and empowering future generations, Sam believes in collective action to foster equitable progress. We’re grateful to have him join PBEC and look forward to working together toward a more connected, resilient future.
