PBEC Board Defines Strategic Vision for 60th Anniversary Year

21 November 2025

The Pacific Basin Economic Council held its Annual General Meeting to chart a transformative course for 2026, marking the organization’s 60th anniversary with renewed ambition and strategic focus.

The Board approved key governance matters, including the reappointment of three directors for new three-year terms and the appointment of a new Vice Chair. Audited financial statements were adopted, positioning the organization for growth with potential new corporate members on the horizon.

Looking ahead to 2026, the Board identified five strategic priorities: defining core objectives, executing a comprehensive anniversary celebration program, activating member engagement with clear deliverables, positioning PBEC as a valued business voice during China’s APEC chairmanship, and establishing thought leadership on critical regional trade issues.

With China hosting the 2026 APEC Summit in Shenzhen, PBEC recognizes a unique opportunity to strengthen its role in regional economic cooperation.

The anniversary year will feature a series of high-profile events across Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines, designed to elevate PBEC’s profile and deepen stakeholder engagement. A comprehensive communications strategy will amplify the organization’s voice on multilateralism and trade collaboration through coordinated media outreach and public commentary.

Strategic partnerships with leading international organizations are under consideration to expand PBEC’s reach and impact. The Board committed to developing clear action plans that translate strategic vision into tangible outcomes, ensuring each member contributes meaningfully to the organization’s mission.

As PBEC enters its seventh decade, the organization stands ready to strengthen its role as a leading voice for business collaboration and economic integration across the Pacific Basin
