PBEC CEO meets with PBEC Member VinaCapital’s team in Vietnam

Immediately after Tet New Year in Vietnam, PBEC CEO Michael Walsh took the opportunity to visit VinaCapital’s head office to present in person to the CEO Don Lam, their ESG Award 2022-23 for “Most Responsible ESG Investor” – In doing so, Michael also had the opportunity to sit down with the some of the wider senior management team to get their latest views and outlook in the investment markets including those of their Chief Economist Michael Kokalari over a hosted lunch at the Grand Hyatt in Saigon.

In Michael Kokalari’s own words: “I remain cautiously optimistic that the Vietnam market will move higher in 2023, even after the strong start and the slight tampering off witnessed in February so far. Most of that growth will be in the mid to small-stock categories over the coming 12 months.”

On being recognised and awarded, CEO Don Lam said. “I am pleased for the VinaCapital team who drive ESG and its standards throughout our organisation, proactively engaging and educating our clients and portfolio firms on the increasing importance of ESG in todays markets. This award is for them and it’s a wonderful recognition from our peers at PBEC to receive this, but we also know the work doesn’t stop, we have a lot more to do and achieve in this important area, as we strive to always put our best foot forward for our clients. Thank you for this prestigious award.”
